I am mostly a self taught artist that sees the world in colors, shapes and values. Although I always considered myself primarily a watercolor artist, the last two years I have been exploring other media and how to combine them, including Inktense, Graphitint, Pen & Ink, Goauche and my latest love, Colored Pencil.
My "studio" is the dining table in our motorhome. We have lived and traveled in a motorhome for over 20 years. This has given me the opportunity to visit some of our country's most beautiful and remote places, and the ability to paint en plein aire and find inspiration outdoors.
My favorite subjects range from the old mining relics in Colorado, landscapes, animals, especially trout, flowers, birds, anything rusty and old, some still life and Zentangles. I often have multiple projects in the works at the same time.
Over the years I have found inspiration from many artists including Michelangelo, Leonardo DaVinci, Vincent Van Gogh, Georgia O'Keefe, Andrew Wyeth, Salvador Dali, Winslow Homer and many others. Reading about these artists and their struggles gives me encouragement in my artistic journey.
